Waiting and Thinking and Cooking

So as I sit here, waiting for my mom to go into surgery in Kenya, I was thinking that instead of 10,000 miles away, Kenya might as well be 10 million miles away! The doctors think that scar tissue from a previous surgery, years ago, could have grown and blocked her bowel. Hopefully they will be able to get in there and fix this issue. I actually feel like I'm watching a really long episode of House and we are never going to get to the true diagnosis and treat what is wrong. *sigh*

BUT God is in control. I am trusting Him. HE knows what is wrong and HE knows what Mom needs and HE will take care of her.

So, in honor of my mom I've put a roast in the crock pot and I'm going to make all the fixins' to go with it for supper tonight. Cooking is like therapy for Mom, so I feel close to her when I'm in the kitchen. When she feels stressed or sad or homesick or anxious she cooks or bakes. Or if she's happy and peaceful....she cooks or bakes. Or makes pickles or jelly or jam. She has fed more people in their home than I could count. So I'll go cook some more. And wait. And pray.

Edit: Mom came through her very long surgery just fine. She actually had two obstructions. Who knew that surgery 12 years ago could affect you later?? She should be able to eat soft food tomorrow. And speaking of eating, the roast turned out great! Thanks for teaching me how to cook, Mom.
