Countdown and sad news

The countdown has begun. Actually it began 5 weeks ago when I made a big, homemade, poster-sized calendar and put it up on the wall in our dining room so I could see just how much time we had before May 21st when the world was going to end. NOT!

I'm a visional learner and I need to see just how many days/squares I have to get things done before our departure date of June 12. However, now I try NOT to look at it because the days are dwindling down and there's still so much to do!

Right now we have 23 days/squares left. There are 7 days/squares from now Coleson graduates. GRADUATES.......from high school. Wasn't he just 3 like five years ago???

I am making progress, though. Today I worked (in my pajamas) packing up books and cleaning out several cupboards in the kitchen.

Today we also received the sad news that my Uncle JC died this morning in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he had been hospitalized. He was a walking miracle. He should have died in 1979 when he had a massive heart attack. God graciously gave him 32 more years, with some more near-death experiences over the course of those years. He certainly did not live those years sitting in a chair, doing nothing. He was very active and lived a life of service to others through his church and in his community. I will always remember his voice and the way he told stories. I loved the way he teased me. When I was really young he smoked a pipe and I loved the way it smelled. He and Aunt Noni were a great team. They raised two sons. They faithfully served together in their church.
I'm so glad I got to see him last year. We sat around their dinner table, laughing and talking and stuffing ourselves with Aunt Noni's delectable food. Uncle JC loved the Lord and I am thankful that I will see him again.

Oh Angie... I am sorry to hear of your family's loss. I will pray for you to experience God's nearness as you grieve. But what grace to grieve with the hope that is ours because of the resurrection.

We're counting the days until you come... just can't wait!

Love to you all,
-debbie

I'm really sorry about your uncle, Angie. Loss...it's just not a slight thing.

Glad you get to head to the US for awhile, and WOW! You have a son graduating from HIGH SCHOOL. That's not possible. :)

Blessings to you and yours.

I'm praying for all of you as you miss Uncle JC. And as you prepare to come see me--I mean, come to the States. I love you.
