We returned last night from 10 days in South Africa. While there we celebrated Christmas in MUCH cooler temperatures, then our big boys went to MK camp while the rest of us attended our annual prayer retreat with missionaries from Mozambique and the Indian Ocean Islands.
Being in S.A. was really a nice break for us - not just the cooler weather but seeing friends and colleagues, shopping in HUGE grocery stores, walking in the mall with all the beautiful Christmas decorations, going to the movies, not having to dodge people when you drive, and COOLER TEMPERATURES!
Our prayer retreat was both of those things - a time to get away from normal life and a time to pray. The person who did the scheduling this year did a great job of planning our time so that we had time for solitary prayer, prayer with one other and prayer with a small group. Being with people who are like-minded and who transparently share their burdens really encourages me in my walk with the Lord.
When we arrived home we discovered that the water pump that pumps all the water into our home is broken. The plumber arrived this a.m. and is out searching for the replacement part. We all need showers and Mt. Laundry is higher than it's been in a long time. I'm praying that this gets resolved TODAY!
Friday is the day we take our children to their host homes because early Saturday a.m. we fly to the United States of America to attend the wedding of Chris Walker and Amanda Taylor. I. CANNOT. WAIT! But I have to. I need to pack for the kids (2 are going to one home and 2 to another) and pack for us. Needless to say, we are taking empty suitcases with us!!!! I'm excited for many, many reasons - getting away for 2 weeks with my sweetheart, seeing dear friends and some family, shopping, going to Sonic, but most of all getting to see two awesome people get married. Their meeting, courtship and romance has been a whirlwind affair that only God could orchestrate.
Lord willing, this time next week we will be in Louisiana. Woo-Hoo!
Happy New Year!

Enjoy your time, and good luck with the laundry!
I can't wait either!!
If I knew when and if you'd be flying over Arkansas I'd wave at you. ;o)
Hope the water pump is fixed soon so you can get the laundry done and marked off your list before you fly back here.
Safe journey and have a great time!

Diane
