Change of Plans

We have had a fun week here in Johannesburg - visiting with my parents, shopping, movies and going to doctor's appointments (wait....that part was not fun!).

On Tuesday, Charlie, Coleson and I visited the dermatologist to have our moles looked at .  We try to do this regularly as we are "moley" people, but it had been awhile since we moved to Mozambique.  Coleson ended up having to have one removed from his back and I had a bump on my nose removed and a spot on my jaw line sent for a biopsy.

Well, the results came back yesterday and the spot on my jaw is a skin cancer and has to be removed.  I was not happy to hear that news - first, no one wants to have the word cancer associated with their body in any form.  Second, this means my family has to drive home without me tomorrow.   They really can't afford to miss more school (they missed three days this week while we were here).  Even though he can totally handle it, I hate that Charlie has to be Mr. Mom this week.

I am scheduled to see a surgeon on Tuesday who will remove the spot and a bit of surrounding healthy tissue.  I don't know if he can remove it that day or will need to do it another day. PRAY that he can do it that day, please.  I really want to go home as soon as possible.

I am SO thankful that we were able to see the dermatologist this week.  We were actually on a cancellation list and only received word the day before that we had an appointment.  God is so good to work out the details.  He knows what we need way before we do.   I am working hard on thanking Him and  trusting Him in all things.

I'm sorry, Angie. You're right, that "c" word is scary and we all dread hearing it. I'll be praying that you can get this taken care of quickly and completely and return home to your family!

Sounds like you're getting to experience "limberness" just like ME.

Praying for you, friend. Hey, how's your dad?

Yikes. I'll be praying for you, too. And maybe I should make that dermatologist appointment I've been putting off...

Oh Angie,
Yikes, sorry to hear about your skin cancer. I had to zip by the picture of your stitches before I fainted. I hope it healed okay and that you don't have any future problems. Take care of yourself girl.
