Merry New Year

Ok, I fully intended to write something Christmasy here but never got around to it because I was too busy writing our Christmas email/prayerletter and preparing to be gone for 2 weeks. I guess I could have done like my friend April and just posted the Christmas email here but it's too late. I'm in South Africa and on my hubby's laptop and can't cut and paste it.

So...MERRY CHRISTMAS and Happy New Year!

We arrived in S.A. (our old home) on Saturday the 23rd of Dec. and enjoyed spending the weekend visiting old friends then we were totally spoiled on Christmas Day by the Berndt family. We had delicious food and lots of time to visit and catch up.

Now my two oldest are at a camp they go to every year for our missionary kids in southern Africa. They will enjoy 4 1/2 days of bunkbeds, capture the flag, swimming, Bible study, and food with friends who are just like them.....third culture kids.

Hubby and I and our two youngest are at a hotel along with several other families to participate in our annual spiritual retreat. We will be blessed with a special speaker, prayer, music, childcare, and lots of time to visit and learn from our fellow missionaries. This is a great time to refuel and leave refreshed and ready to face ministry again.

Some things I am enjoying about being back in South Africa: cooler weather, shopping malls, movie theaters (we went to see Flushed Away.....very cute), friends, and no malaria mosquitoes to worry about. Oh, and seeing my parents.....we get to visit with them all week next week!

It's hard to believe that 2006 is nearly over. It has been a crazy year of new things for our family. I am so thankful to the Lord for what He has done in our lives this year - his provision and strength.

So (a belated Merry Christmas and) Happy New Year.....may you know the Lord's nearness and love for you in a new and real way in 2007.
