Hello From Kenya

Last Friday my two oldest sons and I flew up here to Nairobi, Kenya, to visit with my parents. As many of you know, my Dad (who was diagnosed this year with the auto-immune disease Vasculitis) was released from the hospital the day before I arrived after a 44 day stay! We were praying that he would get out sometime during our visit so it was a great surprise that he got out before we even arrived.

This has been a tough year for Dad. Vasculitis is not a nice disease. He has suffered with pain, fever, weakness and more PLUS the additional suffering that he always deals with because of a chronic skin disease.

He's receiving physical therapy every day at home and is making improvements everyday.

It's tough seeing my Dad so weak. He gets so frustrated and has felt helpless. Many days he has felt a lot like Job. But he knows that God is with him, supplying his needs. And it's so good for me to be able to visit with him.

Hopefully I will be able to post pictures soon. You should see my parent's pet vervet monkey, Rafiki. He's 8 months old and is hilarious. I have some great pictures.

So glad you're getting to spend some time with your parents - Did I see on your FB page that you went to see RVA while you were there? I had several friends who went to school at RVA and they loved it -

I'm praying for your dad and can't wait to see more of the monkey. :) I love monkeys!

I can't even picture your dad that way--I know it must be so hard for you. I'm glad he's getting better-we're still praying! Give them both a hug from me. Oh, go ahead and hug the monkey too.
