10-20-30 Virus

Hey, I'm playing along. I think this originated here but I got it from Mel.

Ten Years Ago I was in Richmond, Virginia with my husband and two little boys who were 3 and 4 1/2, just finishing up our orientation-training for our overseas missionary assignment. We had spent the last 8 weeks or so going to classes each day and preparing to enter another culture and learn another language. I was absolutely terrified and hoping that Jesus would come back very soon so I wouldn't have to move to the end of the earth (Madagascar). I knew I was supposed to go, I was just very scared.

20 Years Ago I was in my junior year of college at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. I was engaged to Charlie and couldn't wait to get married. My roommate was Kecia. We spent lots of time laughing together. And talking about boys and marriage and God. I was an education major and that year I started getting to spend time working/observing in classrooms and I loved it. I couldn't wait to be a real teacher. I babysat for extra money and also worked at a daycare at a local church. I enjoyed the babysitting, hated day care. I was an RA in my dorm which wasn't too hard of a job....telling people to turn down their music, trying to figure out who dumped deer scent on the carpet on our floor (or maybe that was the next year.....I can't remember) and I had to sit up in the lobby until 2:30 a.m. one weekend a month and make sure everyone made curfew.

30 years Ago I was ten years old and living in Crossett, Arkansas. My best friends were Laura and Suzie. My dad was a pastor and my mom a nurse. My parents had just told us that they were going to be missionaries and move to an island in the Caribbean. I was excited and upset. I did not want to live in a grass hut and I didn't want to leave my friends but moving sounded like an adventure. I loved 5th grade and was so into getting good grades, having good hair (bangs that parted in the middle and feathered back), watching TV (Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Charlie's Angels and Welcome Back, Kotter) going to church and talking to my friends on the phone. I was independent and liked to iron my own clothes. I thought my little sister was a pest.

Ok, now it's your turn! I'm not tagging anybody....join in if you want. And BTW, I never had to live in a grass hut.
