wondering

I have been praying for the U.S. elections that will take place tomorrow and I will continue to do so.  I know there are prayer guides that people have been using to help them pray intelligently.

But as I prayed today I wondered about what I am praying for.  Yes, I am praying for "God's Man" to win, the man God wants in office.  But what if God wants the more evil of the two (whomever he may be) to be President because that person will fulfill God's purposes for the United States?  I know that God wants to do us good.  I know that if our children ask us for bread we won't give them a stone,  so God wants to give us good things.  But sometimes God allows hard things in our lives to work out His plan, or to teach us things, or discipline us.  What if God is going to use this President to do some really hard things in America?

Just wondering.

Great post. I am reminded of and comforted by this passage from Daniel 2:20-23 "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him."

Very interesting wondering. I have wondered the same thing myself. I've wondered if God will use difficult times to motivate the church to fill the roles for which we were made (feeding the poor, taking care of widows and orphans, pointing people to Him, etc.) and helping folks to see that the government is not the answer to life's big issues. Thanks for including us in your wonderings!

I'm tracking with ya. I echo what Dee Dee said about this being an impetus for helping people see that government is not the answer to life's big issues...I think you're on to something!
