These are the boys that celebrated Will's birthday with him -
his brother Coleson, his brother Luke (not pictured), and friends Stephen,
Caris and Cory. For some reason they love to take pictures
where it looks like they are yelling!
They stayed up late watching movies, of course.
The next day we had a cookout and birthday cake.
I know that is the most pitifully decorated cake.
What I was going for with the orange came out looking
like pumpkins. But hey....his birthday is in October!
We only had 12 regular candles so he added two "7" candles
because 7 + 7 = 14. The important thing is that
it tasted good, right? And Will was happy.
Will's birthday was October 6th, BTW. I'm a little late in posting.
And in other more recent news......
Today has not been a normal Monday. The kids had the day off from school for an end of quarter break. It was nice to sleep a little later today. Or I should say try and sleep a little later. This time of year here in the beautiful southern hemisphere we see the sun starting to peek over the horizon about 4:45 a.m.! And I made the mistake of putting beige curtains in our room. And our window faces due west, so it gets BRIGHT very early. So today when I thought I was sleeping in, it was really 6:30. Which is 40 minutes later than I normally get up.
I need to pack. Charlie and I are flying to Kenya on Wednesday for a meeting and we'll be gone for 10 days (9 sleeps) without the kids! I'm excited. But that means I have to pack for them and for myself. I've sort of already started - if piles of clothes on my bed count.
I'm so proud of myself! I made a bulletin board today for the space above my desk and spent absolutely nothing! My friend Bev suggested gluing layers of cardboard together and covering them with cloth so that's exactly what I did! I found an large, old cardboard box and some material leftover from curtains. I've hated having papers and notes to myself laying around and I priced bulletin boards here - they were SO expensive. So now all my notes are pinned up in front of my face. And it didn't cost me a cent.
On to weather news.....I think we may have officially entered summer. It is HOT here today. And we need to pay our membership fees at the local pool.
And now I'm going to go pull chicken off the bone for the chicken and spahgetti I'm planning to make for supper.
P.S. I recently added the hit counter and map thingy to my side bar. It's fun seeing where my visitors are from (all 5 of you!) I like to tell myself that the visitor from Alaska was Sarah Palin. I know, I know, she's on the campaign trail........but I can pretend that she visited my blog!
