"It's today! It's today! It's today!"..........

......that's one of our favorite lines from Stuart Little (the movie) and that was one of the things floating in my mind as my eyes opened at 5:30 this a.m.. When I realized my eyes were not going to shut again I got up and starting doing stuff around the house.

We leave right after lunch to go to the airport. Our bags are almost packed. We realized last night that one bag is too big according to the airline standards so we have to repack into a smaller bag (or two smaller bags!)

Everyone's carry-ons are packed with things to do and a few snacks. My fridge and freezer are cleaned out. The house is semi-ready to leave for 4 months. (I still have 6 1/2 hours to finish all the last minute things.)

Everytime I pack their carry-ons I think about the first time we left the states when Coleson and Will were 3 and almost 5. It was our first international flight as a family and I was so worried about keeping them entertained. I had this bag that could have competed with Mary Poppins, full of things to do. The funny thing was they hardly played with any of it - the airlines gave them little bags full of goodies as soon as we boarded - so those and the in-flight movies held their attention when they weren't sleeping. I will say that the fun things from my bag did come in handy during our first few weeks in a strange, new country.

I am so excited about reunions and hugs and smiles that await us!!! And I am just a teensy bit excited about chips and salsa and HUGE Dr. Pepper. Lord willing, I'll be blogging from America next time! Wahoo!
