27 days

In 27 days we leave for our furlough/stateside assignment/home assignment - whatever you want to call it. In 27 days we will be leaving Mozambique to return to the U.S.A. - the land of our birth (except for Luke who was born in South Africa). We cannot wait.

Those of us who are not great fly-ers are getting a little tense about spending that much time encased in a steel tube, speeding through the skies for hour upon hour. But as Luke reminded me this morning - "What do you have to worry about riding in a plane? It's not like we have to drive it! We just sit there and watch movies, eat, play and sleep!".

Out of the mouth of babes. How I wish my faith were that strong and simple. I decided not to remind him of plane crashes, turbulence, tiny bathrooms, awful plane food, turbulence, claustrophobia, turbulence, rude flight attendants, turbulence, no leg room, people kicking the back of your chair, suspicious-looking passengers, and turbulence.

Anyway, we leave in 27 days and I will be getting on the plane with my eye on the prize(s) of seeing our loved ones again in America, drinking Dr. Pepper, driving up to a Sonic, perusing the aisles of Target and Walmart and watching Lost the actual night it airs on TV, not episodes we buy off i-tunes!

(By the way, we'll only be in the U.S. for 4 months. The plan is to return to Mozambique the first week of August.)

Don't forget Starbucks...you've gotta experience that too!

I am very excited for you guys! 27 days is less than one month away!!!

Where will you be staying while you're in the states? Or do you spend a lot of time traveling around? And have you considered visitng Colorado???

Hey, yesterday I had an email from my friend (DDW) and it looks like things are coming together for them to end up really close to you guys! Isn't that exciting?

I'll be praying for you guys over the next few weeks. I'm sure there is much to be done in anticipation of leaving. I'll pray for your plane trip also.

Love,
Meredith

Well, that's great news since I was recently wondering when y'all were heading this way. I've also wondered about the long plane trip myself and how the family will handle that once it's our turn. I'll be praying about that turbulence stuff, for nice flight attendants, and lots of leg room!!

Much love,
Dee Dee

Hi Angie, I found you from Kecia's blog and have read off and on. My mom just got done spending about a year in Kenya and we went to visit over Christmas.
Just wanted to let you know that you can get Lost on www.abc.com for free the day after. We don't have a TV and that's how we've been watching it!
I understand not looking forward to the long flights, I pray it will pass by quickly and uneventful for your family.

Yippee!! I am very excited for you guys and for your friends and family there! Sad for all of us here, though, who will feel a great loss for those months! Wish I could be there to hear everything cute that comes out of Abby and Luke's mouths and to hear Will's synopsis on America. :)

Hi Angie,
I popped over from Meredith's blog. You have a great blog. Yes, being in colorado, I am very jealous of your day at the beach. :) I hope your plane trip goes smoothly, traveling with kids is not easy, especially those long flight. You'll be in my prayers.
